My name is Jen and I live with my husband and our dog, Layla, in Hoboken, NJ. I work in advertising but also have developed a passion for decorating ever since we bought our apartment 2 years ago. Now, we are expecting our first child (a girl!) in late June.

Nursery Inspiration

We were thrilled to find out we were having a baby girl, but I wanted to keep the room simple and neutral with some soft pops of color vs. too over-the-top girly. Because I stuck with a neutral pallet, I added lots of different textures with different pillows, fabrics, the textured rug, baskets and chandelier. I also grew up riding horses and thought they were so magical when I was a little girl, so I couldn't think of anything more perfect to incorporate into my daughter's nursery. My best friend, who happens to be an amazing artist, drew the beautiful horse picture hanging above the crib, making the drawing even more special. I also incorporated some black and white photos of family members, like my great-grandpa, grandma, mom and my husband with horses above the dresser.

I find it a fun challenge to create my vision without spending a ton of money! Here is a list of where I purchased a lot of the items in the nursery if you are interested! There are a few items I "splurged" on, but also tried to balance that by being creative and finding affordable items that completed the space!

  • RugLulu & Georgia

  • ChandelierOverstock

  • Horse Drawing (by my childhood friend, who is also an artist!)-Instagram: Morgan Mandala

  • Crib (white) -Jenny Lind

  • Crib Skirt-Buy Buy Baby/Tadpoles

  • Pillows in CribWest Elm

  • Stuffed animals in crib (horses)Jellycat (purchased from Amazon), World Market & gift

  • Crib Sheet- PBK

  • Flower Garland on Crib (custom)-Etsy/ Instagram: The Grey Rose

  • Mobile (custom-without birds)-Etsy/Instagram: Lamm Handmade

  • Mobile HangerPBK

  • White Flowers above Picture and Mirror-Anthropologie

    • I actually bought the full-stem paper flowers on major sale from Anthro and cut the stems off to hang on the wall. The ones they make for wall hanging are not currently available (and much more expensive!)

  • Bassinet: This is a Jenny Lind bassinet that I used when I was a baby. This is currently in our master bedroom (not the nursery), but definitely has the same feel as the rest of the nursery!
